Let me introduce myself

I love to shoot your babies. Before you go running off to file a police report. Please allow me to introduce myself, and at least read until the end before dialing 911.

Hi, I’m Erin – owner and photographer here at Beautiful Beginnings Photography. You probably already know this if you’re here, but I’m a maternity, newborn and family photographer based out of St. Clair Shores, MI. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me and what I do, and for visiting my little space on the internet!

Photography is something I have always enjoyed.

Thinking back, I still remember when I was starting high school and I saw that they offered photography classes. I knew that would be right up my alley. Back then (and I say back then because it was 20 years ago that I graduated, Class of 1999!) I shot on a Minolta 35mm film camera. We had to turn in our images on slides so we could project them on the wall.  Man, I feel really old writing that… I was really sad when they took photography II off the class registration for the next year because the teacher retired. Then mad that they brought it back the year after I graduated.

Anyway, after high school, I then worked for a childcare center for nine years, before I left and got a job as a bank teller.

I quickly learned that I had a passion for taking care of children after leaving my job, (and no passion for being a bank telling LOL) funny how that works out. However, I did happen to win my first DSLR camera from Flagstar Bank, so for that, I will be forever grateful. I quickly started classes at Macomb Community College to learn how to use my digital camera better.

A few months later, I was at a birthday party talking to my cousin’s cousin, who happened to be a busy wedding photographer. She was kind enough to take me under her wing, and let me work under her as her second shooter. That was nine years ago now and we still work together all the time. Spending some of my weekends running around like a crazy person so we don’t miss a single shot. It’s fantastic, and I love what we do.

After helping her for a while, I knew I didn’t really want to do weddings full time. Figuring out quickly that I wanted to combine my love for babies, and photography.

Looking back now, I can’t believe that I have been a photographer for nine years now. I wouldn’t trade all the babies I have gotten to cuddle and watch grow up for anything. Loving everything about my job, the creative freedom I get, the people I get to meet, and the friendships that I have gained.  I don’t even mind how many times I have been peed on because babies do baby things, and I love capturing every single moment of it.

I really do love to shoot your babies 🙂 #lovemyjob
